The Event Management Online course is structured over an eight-week period in which you are expected to study the reading material provided to support the examination.

The Terbell Event Courses UK team will always be on hand to support you during the course via email or Skype. We have made the course simple to work through, without compromising on the quality of the education and the content delivered by our industry professional.

How does it work?

You will be provided a student number which gives you on-line access to the course material via the Terbell Event Courses UK Learning Portal (Click here to learn more).

Once registered online the portal will be open for you to download the material for a period of eight weeks only.

You will be sent a support email every week to keep you on track, the final email on week eight will issue you with a code to unlock the exam. You can only start the exam in week eight and you will be given a 6 hour window to complete the exam and upload your completed examination paper in PDF or Word format.

Unit 3 – Event Planning

  • Learn the basic elements of an event management plan
  • Understand risk management planning from both commercial and safety angles
  • Discuss the importance of procurement and how it may impact on the event success
  • Have an overview of event safety planning, safety policy and risk assessment

Unit 4 – The Client Brief

  • Understand the need for a Brief (or Response to Proposal (RFP))
  • Learn the basic elements of a SMART criteria for dissecting the brief
  • Consider the geographical location, event history and client brand when planning an event
  • Take into account dates and times when planning an event
  • Learn the basic criteria for the evaluation and choice of venue, accommodation and catering for events

Unit 5 – Conferences

  • Understand and dissect a Conference Brief (or Response to Proposal (RFP))
  • Know the format of conferences and be able to provide a definition
  • Consider the geographical location, event history and client brand when planning an event
  • Understand the presentation, invitation and registration processes
  • Learn the basic technical requirements that can be used within a conference space

Unit 6 – Exhibitions

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • Understand and dissect an Exhibition Brief (or Response to Proposal (RFP)).
  • Know the format of an exhibition and be able to provide a definition.
  • Be able to consider whom the target audience is and how to interact with them.
  • Have a wider understanding of the role of AV in exhibitions.
  • Understand the types of stands and the geography of an exhibition space.
  • How to prepare for an exhibition to extract the most value

Unit 7 – Health and Safety

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • Understand the role health and safety plays within the events industry
  • Be competent at identifying risk and writing risk management documentation
  • Understanding the role and responsibility of the event manager
  • Understand occupant capacity and site rules and regulations
  • Learn the basic techniques of crisis management

Unit 8 – Festivals

  • Identify the component parts of a festival
